fsType

Depends on type

Value depends on the worker node being used and what local file system is available.

Examples: nfs, ext4, xfs

mountBackingShareName

User Specified

Share name to be used in Hammerspace to store the data. If it doesn’t exist, it will be automatically created.

objectives

User Specified

Must exist otherwise the creation of PV’s will fail.

exportOptions

*,RW,false

Default share creation export options. Recommended to change to fit the production environment.

deleteDelay

-1

Default is to never delete the created Hammerspace shares or files.

  • 0 deletes shares after 24 hours

  • Only applies to shares, not files

  • Valid input: 0, -1

volumeNameFormat

csi-%s

Must include the %s as it acts as a unique identifier. Expands to UUID.

Volumes

Volume Type Description

File-backed Block Volume (raw device)

  • Storage is exposed to the container as a raw device, i.e. no file system.

  • Exists as a special device file on a Hammerspace share (backing share)

File-backed Mounted Volume (filesystem)

  • Storage is exposed to the container as a directory

  • Exists as a special device file on a Hammerspace share (backing share) which contains a filesystem

Share-backed Mounted volume (shared filesystem)

  • Storage is exposed to the container as a directory

  • Exists as a top level Hammerspace share with its own objectives

  • Mounted via NFS
