Client Access and Transparency

To clients, a referral share appears like any other NFSv4 export. When mounted, the NFS client is redirected to the external system specified by the referral path and addresses.

This redirection is transparent to the end-user application. The only visible difference is that data is served from the referred-to system (target) rather than the local system.
