Cost Observability and Reporting Limitations

Hammerspace does not currently integrate with the AWS billing or CloudWatch Cost APIs. Before deploying GIR, be aware of the following:
No in-product cost estimation. Hammerspace cannot calculate what placing a given amount of data on GIR will cost. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator for storage projections before committing data to GIR.
Capacity reporting discrepancies. Because of the 90-day minimum billing window, the storage capacity that Hammerspace reports as "in use" on a GIR OSV will not always match what AWS bills for the same volume. Data that has been deleted from the share can continue to appear as a billing charge in AWS for up to 90 days.
No per-volume upload/download counters. Usage counters and customer-defined rate thresholds — for example, "alert me if more than X GB is uploaded to this OSV per week" — are not part of this release. These are planned as a future enhancement.
Until those enhancements are available, monitor AWS billing and CloudWatch directly for cost visibility on GIR OSVs.
