User Roles

A user is always tied to a role. There are three default types of management user roles and two types of data access roles.

Management Roles

  • Admin has full access to all management functionalities.

  • Data Owner is limited to editing and setting objectives.

  • Viewer is a read-only role that can view the dashboard.

Data-Access Roles

  • SMB role allows a local user to connect to the cluster using SMB. The SMB role is different from an Active Directory role, and it is not recommended to use this role when Active Directory is available.

  • The S3 role allows the creation of local users with identities in the file system. This should only be used when configuring an S3 server that is not authenticating to Active Directory.

Additional management roles can be created in the Admin CLI using the role-create command.
